Joe
Acaba and Jose Damien founded Celestial Oeuvre in 2004. The band is
conceptually a Neo-Classical Progressive Rock force in the old tradition but
with a totally modern edge. The music compositions are a collaboration between
Jose Damien and Joe Acaba. The music consists of intense vocals riding on rich elements of Rock, Classical,
Psychedelic, Funk and Jazz Fusion. The lyrics, which are all written and sung by
Joe Acaba, are nothing short of allegory and poetry! Musicians

A Short Story Circa
1975, a band called Demian (named after a book by Hermann Hesse) was formed. The
band had over 40 original compositions within a two year span. The songwriting
team in that band was Joe Acaba and Charlie De Jesus. The duo had such an
amazing chemistry, passion and love for music that, there creations went far beyond
their years; they were indeed prolific composers to say the least. Both were
influenced by bands like Yes, ELP, Gentle Giant, Jethro Tull and many other
progressive rock bands cut from the same cloth. It was around this time that
Jose Damien answered an ad in a musicians classified, was embraced straightaway into the fold, and joined the
progressive rock ensemble. Unfortunately, the band Demian eventually broke up,
and the members went their separate ways. It was during this period of
separation that Charlie De Jesus went on to spend time with his creator
(1952-1991)---his passing reverberated in the hearts of those
who knew him, and he was sorely missed. After many years Joe Acaba returned to NYC and reunited with Jose
Damien. They talked about being given a "second chance" to do what
they had left undone many years hence. The decision was made to create a CD
comprised of nothing but the music they both had come to know and love---progrock. Jose
Damien and Joe Acaba We
would like to thank everyone involved in this labor of love. The Keeper of the
Earth, our families, our significant others (for putting up with hours of
separation---worse than football widows), the musicians who played on the CD,
and of course, all the friends who cheered us on during the hard times. Artwork on the CD A.
Andrew Gonzalez, of Artist
Statement I’d like to personally thank Andrew Gonzales for his contribution to this wonderful labor of love. On a lark I placed a call to this incredible artist and with nervous trepidation suggested that his illustrations would be ideal for our vision. And he, a visionary himself, understood the request, and without hesitation acquiesced to a hope that now has been realized. “Unio Mystica”, his signature painting, now graces the cover of our maiden CD, Second Chance. I can only venture to hope that it is the first of many in what I’d like to think will be a long term relationship. Photographer We’d like to acknowledge Christine Camilo, a good friend and a wonderful photographer for her photo shoot---no easy task. Mission accomplished. Her photo shoot was painless and pleasurable. The whole band’s hats' off to her. Bravo! Christine Camilo handiwork can be admired by clicking the shutters on: http://camilophoto.com Recording
Studio Finally we
would like to thank Steve Young. The man is the amazing recording engineer whose
invaluable input helped us achieve a greater product than we could have achieved
otherwise. He is not only a brilliant recording engineer, but also a talented
musician with a great ear; he misses nothing. But above all else, he is a great
friend! We can't express enough what a great pleasure it was to work with
Steve---and still is. Again, we want to deeply thank him for his masterwork on
this CD. Below are some pictures of Steve and the band in the recording studio.
Enjoy.
